Story

Charles Towne Percussion, a non-profit organization founded in 2018, does amazing work in providing instruction, education, and performance opportunities for students. Our mission is to instill a sense of pride and excellence in student while also competing with other groups similar to us. The season culminates in Dayton, Ohio at Winter Guard International, where we will get to compete with groups from around the world. WGI is called the "Sport of the Arts" because it brings music to life through performance in a competitive format. Even with over 45 years of history, the sport continues to evolve and grow. There were more than 40,000 participants at the regional level, and more than 12,000 participants at the Sport of the Arts World Championships this past April.

Charles Towne Percussion competes as an indoor percussion ensemble or indoor drumline which consists of the marching percussion (also called battery) and front ensemble (also called pit) sections of a marching band or drum corps. Indoor percussion marries elements of music performance, marching, and theater; thus, the activity is often referred to as percussion theater. Although most indoor percussion ensembles are affiliated with high schools, there are also many independent groups that draw participants from a large area.

The competition in Dayton is truly a once-in-a-lifetime event and it is the perfect end to the season but it is costly to the organization. Participants pay dues that cover their uniform, equipment, and initial down payments for the trip but Charles Towne Percussion does additional fundraising to fill in the gap that dues don't cover. Our goal is $5,000 to cover the cost of gas and travel to Dayton!

I am aiming to raise $5,000 to cover the costs of equipment, instructions, travel, and the uniform. Your donation, no matter the size, will make a significant impact in helping me reach this goal. With 3 months until the competition, every dollar counts. Thank you in advance for your support and for helping me make this incredible opportunity a reality. Together, we can take my passion for percussion to new heights!
